Discussion on the Education Direction of GIS Specialty for College

Abstract

This paper firstly analyzed the status in quo and developing trends of Geographic Information System(GIS) technology,the education significance of GIS,and the confronted problems in the education of GIS Specialty for College.Then it put forward that the education of GIS should reasonably organize the curriculum of GIS specialty,optimize the curriculum system,construct teachers team based on the concept of study-oriented organization,improve the teaching methods and contents,and establish the education objective for each level students,etc.
