A preliminary investigation on bird diversity in the University Town of Xiqing in Tianjin

A preliminary investigation on bird resources in the University Town of Xiqing in Tianjin was made from September,2011 to March,2014. Field surveys were conducted by the method of line-transect census,fixed-radius point count surveys and bird song identification. 110 species belonging to 35 families and 15 orders were recorded. 24 species belonged to the northern type of 46 species of breeding birds. investigation indicated that the fauna characteristics of the birds are mainly northern type. There are six bird species under second degrees of national protection,while one species listed is endemic species in China,and 92 species are listed as The state protects the beneficial or of important economic or scientific value of terrestrial wild animals. results also indicated that bird diversity in renewable green area was the highest while the living area had the lowest bird diversity.
