BIRD DIVERSITY IN JIANGXI PROVINCE

In order to know bird resources in Jiangxi Province,the number of bird species in Jiangxi was accounted and analyzed based on previous studies and new record in recent years according to taxonomic system of book A Checklist on Classification and Distribution of Birds of China.A total of 480 species were recorded,belonging to 19 orders and 72 families.There were 84 national key protected species,among which 13 species belonged to first-grade protected species.Fifty two species were listed in China Red Data Book of Dangerous Animal.Seventy species were recorded in the Convention on Internaitional Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora(CITES),among which ten species was listed in appendix I.There were 13 species endemic to China;however,there was no species endemic to Jiangxi Province.The result shows that Jiangxi Province has high bird species richness;especially,migrants and waterbirds are abundant.These may result from situation and ecological environment.
