Abstract
On the basis of defining regional economic development strength from two aspects including the economic development level and economic growth contribution, this paper analyzes and evaluates the regional economic development strength in Xinjiang by using the combination evaluation methods including the Principal Component Analysis, Analytic Hierarchy Process and Mean Squared Error. After analyzing, it is considered that the one-sidedness and limitation caused by the simplex methods in evaluating regional economic development strength in the past can be overcome if the combination evaluation methods are used. Although it is still a kind of try, the case study results by using the methods are quite accurate and accord with the actuality of the regional economic development in Xinjiang. Certainly, this method can also be referred in other fields. Right weight of combination evaluation method made up of the three kinds of methods can be further discussed. Scholars can adopt other methods to form combination evaluation method, but this depends on their apprehensive degree to different methods.
