Clinical study on Guipi decoctoion in treating optic atrophy according to the traditional Chinese differentiation of symptoms and signs

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of Guipi decoction on optic atrophy according to the traditional Chinese differentiation of symptoms and signs.Methods 68 patients with optic atrophy were randomly divided into two groups. 40 patients in treatment group were treated by Guipi decoction according to the traditional Chinese differentiation of symptoms and signs;28 patients in control group were treated by routine western medicine, with a treatment course of 4 weeks for both groups. The therapeutic effect was evaluated after 4 treatment courses for both groups.Results The total effective rate was 85.00% in treatment group and 57.14% in control group. There was a significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion Guipi decoction is effective in treating optic atrophy.
