Abstract
Objective To evaluate the value of ultrasonography in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis. Methods A retrospective analysis was made of the image features of 246 cases of acute appendicitis confirmed by pathology or clinical findings by using low-frequency ultrasound examination combined with high frequency probe. Results The diagnostic accordance rate of appendicitis by ultrasonography was 84.95%.In 246 cases of acute appendicitis,91 were acute simple appendicitis(36.99%),125 were acute suppurative appendicitis(50.8%),22 were gangrenous appendicitis(8.94%) and 8 were appendiceal abscess(3.27%).Conclusion ultrasound examination, especially high frequency ultrasonography is valuable in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis.
