Diagnostic value of ultrasound in acute appendicitis

Abstract
Objective To explore the value and sonogram characteristics of appendicitis. Methods The low-frequency and high frequency ultrasound were performed on 142 patients with acute appendicitis. The ultrasonic performances were compared with the observation results and operation. Results Ultrasound diagnostis rate of appendicitis was 83.10%. Among 142 cases, there were 53 cases with acute simple appendicitis (37.32%), 71 cases with acute suppurative appendicitis (50%), 13 cases with gangrenous appendicitis (9.15%) and 5 cases with periappendicular abscess (3.52%). Conclusion High-frequency ultrasound has great value in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis.
