Abstract
Objective: To investigate the relationships between polymorphism of Esophageal Cancer Related Gene(ECRG2) Short Tandem Repeat(STR) and susceptibility of Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinomas in Kazakh population in Xinjiang.Methods:ECRG2 genotypes were detected by PCR-SSCP in 94 cases of Kazakh' esophageal carcinomas and 100 Kazakh' blood samples for control population. Results:The frequencies of ECRG2 STR genotypes,TCA3/TCA3,TCA4/TCA4,TCA3/TCA4 were 22.3%、30.9%、46.8% and 10%、56%、34% in Kazakh' esophageal carcinomas and the contral samples. There is a significant difference between esophageal carcinomas and the control population(χ2=13.589,df=2,P0.01).The three genotypes were 47.8%、8.7%、43.5% in Kazakh' esophageal carcinomas with metastasis, and 14.1%、38.0%、47.9% in Kazakh' carcinomas without metastasis respectively. There is a significant difference between the groups with metastasis and without metastasis(χ2=13.77,df=2,P0.01).Compared to those carring the TCA4/TCA4 genotype population, subjects that carried the TCA3/TCA3 genotype were at an increased risk of ESCC with the adjusted odds ratios(ORs) being 4.06(95% CI,1.69-9.74) in Kazakh. Conclusion:The results suggested that subjects those carried the TCA3/TCA3 genotype are an increased risk of ESCC and metastasis compared to those carring the TCA4/TCA4 genotype.
