Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of retention enema by improved method to patients of ulcerative colitis. Methods 63patients of ulcerative colitis were enrolled and divided randomly into three groups, which used traditional method( control group),partly improved method( group A) and improved method( group B). Results The maintenance of liquid medicine in intestinal tract was longer in group B than in the control group and group A( P 0. 017). There was no statistically significant difference between the control group and group A( P = 0. 477 0. 017). Conclusions For ulcerative colitis patients, the improved method of retention enema by adopting infusion method and infusion thermostat provides a better effect in the liquid medicine retention than traditional method.
