Abstract

Objective:To investigate the efficiency of microcatheter in the treatment of cavernous hemangioma of liver(CHL) by pingyangmycin-lipiodol emulsion(PLE). Methods:Thirty-five patients with CHL were embolized by intra-arterial infusion of PLE. The abnormal vascular lackes of large tumor were treated with gelfoam particles additionally. All patients were followed-up for 12 to 36 months. The changes of tumor size were measured and compared before and after the embolization. The relative clinical symptoms and complications were observed. Results:In all cases, the tumor size significantly decreased 36%~65% after PLE embolization and abnormal vascular lackes disappeared. The clinical symptoms were significantly released. Total effective rate 100%. No severe complications happened. Conclusion:Transmicrocatheter super selective hepatic arterial embolization with PLE is an effective and safe therapy for CHL.
