Abstract

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effects of pingyangmycin-lipiodol emulsion(PLE) embolization to treat cavernous hemangioma of liver(CHL).Methods 28 patients with CHL were embolized by intra-arterial PLE.The changes of clinic symptoms and tumor volumes, and the occurrence of complications were observed before treatment and at 3,6 months after treatment. Results The tumor diameter significantly decreased after PLE embolization(P0.05).The mean tumor diameter was(8.21±3.33)cm before intervention, which decreased to(4.35±1.22)cm at 3 months after treatment and to(2.74±0.73)cm at 6 months after treatment. The clinic symptoms were alleviated or even disappeared in all patients. No severe complications occurred during and after the therapy. Conclusion It is suggested that PLE intra-hepatic-arterial embolization is effective and safe for treating CHL.
