Abstract
Objective To study anti-fibrotic effect of combined lamivudine with captopril in patients with chronic hepatitis B(CHB) and to explore therapeutic strategy with potent inhibiting liver fibrosis effect. Methods Clinical data of a total of 166 cases of CHB patients were retrospectively analyzed.Patients were divided into reducing liver enzyme group, lamivudine group, captopril group and combination treatment group with lamivudine and captopril.Anti-fibrotic effect was estimated by comparing serum markers of liver fibrosis and liver histology before and after treatment. Results Compared with parameters before treatment, all 4,2,3 of the levels of serum markers of liver fibrosis decreased after treatment in combination treatment group and lamivudine group, captopril group, respectively. The incidence of fibrosis stage 0~1 increased remarkably while the incidence of stage 2~3 and stage 4 decreased markedly. This change was most evident in combination treatment group. No noticeable change of serum markers of liver fibrosis and liver fibrosis stages in reducing liver enzyme group was observed before and after treatment. Conclusion Both lamivudine and captopril have anti-fibrotic effect in CHB patients. This efficacy is more evident when combining lamivudine with captopril in the treatment of CHB.Temporarily reducing liver enzyme treatment does not show significant efficacy of inhibiting liver fibrosis.
