Abstract
Based on the measured data, the sedimentation characteristics in Xiaolangdi Reservoir and responses of the lower Yellow River during the initial operation from 2000 to 2006 have been analyzed, including the effect of Xiaolangdi Reservoir operation on the flow and sediment condition entering the lower Yellow River, the erosion characteristics of the lower Yellow River, and the relation between reservoir sedimentation and downstream channel erosion. These characteristics are then compaired with those by Sanmenxia Reservoir during its initial operation from 1960 to 1964.Finally,some suggestions to Xiaolangdi Reservoir operation and flow-sediment regulation are proposed.
