Abstract
In the initial operation period of trapping sediment of Xiaolangdi Reservoir,the incorning flood could form the density current.However,the density current usually carries large quantity of sediment,to avoid severe sedimentation in Xiaolangdi Reservoir,it shoud be discharged in time.Unfortunately,such hyper-concentration current will cause longitudinal deposition in the lower Yellow River.Therefore it is necessary to properly regulate the flow and sediment combination by Xiaolangdi Reservoir to realize the aim of slight silt,even no silt in the lower Yellow River.
