Abstract
Experiment was designed under different pH and temperature conditions to analysis the NH4+ exchange capacity of Na+-vermiculite minerals pre-treated by NaCl solutions. The results indicate that the exchange reactions occurred most rapidly at the beginning 60 minutes and approached to equilibrium by about 120 minutes. The NH4+ exchange capacity of the minerals varied with pH with a peak value of 92.85mmol/100g at pH 7. Both the NH4+ exchange capacity and its selectivity of the minerals increased significantly with decrease in temperature.
