Data Analysis on Accidental Death among Residents in Shouguang City,2010

[Objective]To understand mortality rate and causes of accidental death among residents in Shouguang,to provide scientific evidence for making development program of health service and policy.[Methods]Surveillance data of accidental death among residents in Shouguang in 2010 were analyzed.[Results]A total of 621 accidental death cases were reported in 2010 with a death rate of 59.94/105.It was 80.70/105 and 38.78/105 in male and female respectively(P0.01).It was 32.15/105,19.89/105,12.02/105 and 10.06/105 in the children aged 0,from 1-4,5-9 and 10-14 respectively.The accidental death rate was going up along with the increase of the age.It was 234.68/105 in the people aged 80 and over(P0.01).The first two causes of accidental death were motor vehicle accidental death and suicide in male and female aged from 15 to 74.While falling down and suicide were the top two causes of death in people aged over 75.[Conclusion]Accidental death rate remains at a high level among residents in Shouguang in 2010.The main causes of accidental death are motor vehicle traffic accident,suicide and falling down.
