Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the changes of corneal astigmatism after surgery for pterygium.Methods:43 patients (46 eyes) with primary pterygium were evaluated through refraction, Corneal Curvature measurement, Computer Optometry system and pterygium size. The amount of astigmatism was compared pre-and post-surgery. Results:46 eyes through corneal curvature measurment, the average of astigmatism was 4.87±2.81D pre-surgery and 3.19±2.23D post -surgery a week (P0.05),2.74± 2.01D post-surgery a month (P0.01). There was statistic significance between the pre- and post- sugery. The astigmatism most show with the rugle. Conclusion:The pterygium can induce astigmatism with the rule. surgery removal of pterygium can reduce the degree of astigmatism and improve the patient's vision.
