Abstract

The crucial factors of urban traffic jam include long traffic distance so that traffic turnover is too big,and the fact that traffic for work takes about 80% of the flow in peak time.A new tactics of traffic demand management is given: subsidizing to housing near job.It will reduce urban traffic turnover and stimulate urban land to be used mixedly. An optimization model describing the tactics is set up.It provides an quantitative method for the practice of the tactics.
