Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of keeping normal depth of anterior chamber by using sodium hyaluronate during compound trabeculectomy. Methods 87 eyes(78 cases) with primary angle-clousure glaucoma were divided into two groups: 41 eyes(33 cases) treated by regular compound trabeculectomy after being infused sodium hyaluronate into anterior chamber,46 eyes(45 cases) underwent regular compaound trabeculectomy as control. Results The percentage of shallow anterior chamber was 12.20%(5/41) in the group with sodium byaluronate and 32.61%(15/46) in control group. There was significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).The successful rate of operation was 97.56%(40/41) in the group with sodium hyaluronate and 91.30%(42/46) in the control group respectively,There was no significant difference between two groups(P0.05). Conclusion Trabeculectomy with keeping normal depth of anterior chamber may decrease the occurrence of postoperative shallow anterior chamber.
