Expressions of P53 and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor in Gastric Carcinoma

Abstract

【Objective】To investigate the expressions of P53 and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)in gastric carcinoma and its relationship with the clinicopathologic features.【Methods】Expressions of P53、VEGF and microvessel density(MVD) were examined with immunohistochemical method in 45 cases of gastric cancer obtained by surgical resection,and their correlation with histology,lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis was analyzed.【Results】The expression rate of P53 and VEGF in gastric carcinoma were 51.11%(23/45) and 66.67%(30/45) respectively,and the mean value of MVD was 43.6±12.5(x±s).In the area with high expression of VEGF,there was intensive expression of P53.Expression of VEGF was correlated with P53(P0.05).A close correlation was present between positive rate of MVD、P53 and VEGF(P0.05).Expressions P53 and VEGF were significantly related to the lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis(P0.05).【Conclusion】The expression of VEGF was significantly correlated with P53,and both of them have an important role in angiogenesis and metastasis of gastric cancer.
