A Study on the Relationship between Microalbuminuria and Atherosclerosis and C-reactive Protein in Patients with Essential Hypertension

Objective:To investigate the relationship between microalbuminuria(MAU)and,carotid intima-media thickness(C-IMT),the incidence of Lacunar infarction(LI)and the serum C-reactive protein(CRP)in patients with essential hypertension(EH).Methods:199 patients of EH were divided into two groups according to the MAU level.95 patients were normoalbuminuria group,104 patients were MAU group.The C-IMT,inner diameter of carotid,incidence of plaque,incidence of LI,level of MAU,CRP,creatinine(Cr),total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG)and glucose(Glu)in serum of these two groups were analysed and compared.Results:The C-IMT,incidence of plaque,incidence of LI,level of MAU,concentration of CRP,TC,TG and Glu in MAU group were higher than those in normoalbuminuria group(P0.05).The level of MAU in stage 3 of EH in MAU group was higher than that of stage 1 and 2(P0.05).There were positive correlations between level of MAU and C-IMT,concentration of CRP in MAU group(P0.05).Conclusion:The incidence and extent of atherosclerosis is closely related to MAU in patients with EH,therefore,the level of MAU may be used as an early significant index for the evaluation of development of renal disease and cardio-cerebro vascular disease in the EH patients.
