Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between target organ damage and plasma high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hsCRP) in elder patients with hypertension. Methods 80 elder patients with essential hypertension were selected and determined on their plasma levels of hsCRP,urinary albumin/creatinine ratio(ACR),left ventricular mass(LVM) and carotid intima-media thickness(IMT).Results The hsCRP level in patients with left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH) were higher than that in subjects without LVH[(10.04±3.74) mg/L vs.(5.75±3.64) mg/L],P0.05),the hsCRP in patients with high IMT were higher than that in subjects with normal IMT [(8.00±4.10) mg/L vs.(4.64±3.68) mg/L,P0.05],the hsCRP in patients with micro-albuminuria(MAU) were higher than that in subjects without MAU [(8.09±4.10) mg/L vs.(4.72±3.48) mg/L,P0.05].Correlation analysis showed that the plasma levels of hsCRP were positively related to LVMI,ACR and IMT(r=0.504,0.431,0.384,respectively,all P0.01).Conclusion There is positive relationship between target organ damage and plasma hsCRP in elder patients with hypertension.
