A Critical Linguistic Analysis Of English News Text

Abstract

Critical linguistics holds that various levels and structures of tests may have ideological meaning. Based on Halliday’s System Functional Grammar,this paper analyses the ideological meaning of transitive system in the news text. And it discusses the analytic Methods of CDA in terms of linguistic devices and shows how CDA can contribute to our understanding of power relations and ideological processes in the news texts.
