Abstract

Objective To study the correlation between the expressions of PCNA and CD44V6 with the tumor invasion and metastasis, and prognosis in patients with gastric cancer(GC), and to evaluate the relationship between the expression of PCNA and CD44V6 in GC. Methods The expression of PCNA and CD44V6 was detected in 90 resected GC specimens with strptavidin peroxidase immunohistochemistry method. Results The mean PCNA LI in gastric cancer was 63.85%±17.16%; the positive rate of CD44V6 expression was 74.4%(67/90). The PCNA LI and staining intensity of CD44V6 were significantly correlated with the lymph node metastasis, depth of invasion, and the TNM stage classification of GC(P0.05). In patients with high PCNA LI(50% or greater) or strong CD44V6 expression, the 1,3,5 years survival rate were significantly decreased(P0.05). The PCNA LI in patients with positive CD44V6 expression was significant higher than that in patients with negative CD44V6 expression(P0.05). Conclusions The PCNA and CD44V6 expression are significantly correlated with the invasion and metastasis and patients' prognosis of GC, the expression of CD44V6 may benefit increase in GC cell proliferative activity.
