Expression and Correlation of VEGF-C and PCNA in Gastric Cancer

Abstract

Objective To study the expression and correlation of the vascular endothelial growth factor C(VEGF-C) and proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) in gastric cancer tissues.Methods Immunohistochemistry SP method detected VEGF-C and PCNA expression in 216 cases of gastric cancer and 160 cases of gastric ulcer.Results VEGF-C positive rate in the control group 15.0%(24/160),the experimental group was 48.6%(105/216),significantly different(χ2=46.07,P0.0001);PCNA positive rate was 16.9% in the control group(27/160),the experimental group was 47.7%(103/216),with also significant difference(χ2=38.57,P0.0001).VEGF-C and PCNA were not correlated with gender,age,tumor size and histological type(P0.05);VEGF-C and PCNA positive expression and tumor differentiation,invasion depth,lymph node metastasis and TNM staging is closely related(P0.01 or 0.05).VEGF-C and PCNA expression is closely related(P0.01).Conclusion The expression level of VEGF-C and PCNA can be used to evaluate metastasis of gastric cancer and a therapeutic target.
