Abstract

Water-soluble crude polysaccharides have been extracted from corn-cob. The crude polysaccharide was further fractionated by ethanol and purified by Sepharose CL-4B gel filtration and the final products polysaccharides was named CCⅢ which could prolong the time of the coagulantion in vitro experiment. Smith degradation, methylation analysis and GC/MS were used to analyse the structure of CCX. The results revealed that CCX is a kind of lowly branched structure. The main chain is made up of (1→3)-linked-Xyl and β-(1→4)-linked-Glc, a few residues are substituted at 6-O. On the average, there is one branch among ten main chain residues. The side chain is composed of (1→3)-linked-Glc and (1→3)-linked-Xyl.
