Abstract
Objective:To study therapeutic effect of early nasogastric feeding rhubarb powder on upper gastrointestinal bleeding after severe brain injuries. Methods:Ninety patients with severe brain injuries (Glasgow coma scale score of 8 or less on admission) were randomly divided into experimental group(45 cases) and control group(45 cases). The experimental group was treated by nasogastric feeding with rhubarb powder within 24~48 hours after injury, and the control group was not treated with rhubarb powder. Results:The results showed that 39 patients had upper gastrointestinal bleeding. In experimental group, and 13 out of 14 cases were cured;while in control group ,and 16 out of 25 cases were cured. There were significant differences in two groups (P0.05) ;the time of treatment in experimental group was shorter than that in control group ( P0.05 ) .Conclusions: Early nasogastric feeding with rhubarb powder can control upper gastroimestinal bleeding after severe brain injuries and deserves further clinical applications.
