Abstract
Objective To investigate influences of Jinlida oral liquid on markers of oxidative stress and antioxidant reserve in rats with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods A total of 40 male Sprague-Dawley(SD) rats with type 2 diabetes mellitus were randomly divided into diabetes model group(group A,n=20) and Jinlida therapy group(group B,n=20),and other 20 normal male SD rats were recruited as control group.Group B was treated with 5 ml/kg lavage orally(2 times/d),while group A and control group were given the same dose of 0.5% sodium carboxmethylcellulose solution.After 8 weeks,rats were sacrificed,and body weight,blood glucose,triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),glomerular cross-sectional area and superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px),malondialdehyde(MDA) and advanced glycosylation end product were detected.At the end of 4th and 8th week,SOD,GSH-Px,MDA,nitric oxide(NO),nitric oxide synthase(NOS) and AGE in blood of rats′ tails were detected respectively.Results Body weight in group A and group B were significantly lower than that in control group at the end of 8th week(P0.05);Levels of fasting blood glucose,TC and TG in group B were significantly lower than those in group A(P0.05),and there was no statistically significance in indexes compared with those in control group(P0.05),except the fasting blood glucose index(P0.05).The glomerular cross-sectional area,AGE and MDA in nephridial tissue in group B were significantly lower than those in group A(P0.05),while activities of SOD and GSH-Px in renal tissue were significantly higher(P0.05).At medication for 4 weeks and 8 weeks,serum concentrations of SOD,GSH-Px and NO,and NOS in group B were higher than those in group A(P0.05),and levels of MDA and AGE-P were lower than those in group A(P0.05).In group A and B,the GSH-Px level at the end of 8th week was significantly higher than that at the end of 4th week in the same group(P0.05).Conclusion Jinlida oral liquid may effectively improve expression of oxidative stress marker in type 2 diabetic in rats.
