Abstract

[Objective]To study the relationship of IL-6 gene promoter-572C/G Polymorphism and the hereditary susceptibility of cerebral infarction in Han population of Tangshan area.[Methods]The IL-6 gene promoter-572C/G polymorphism were detected by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP)analysis among 157 patients with cerebral infarction and 163 cases with healthy controls.[Results]There was significant difference in frequencies of allele and genotype in-572C/G polymorphism between cerebral infarction and control groups respectively(P﹤0.05).The relative risk suffered from cerebralinfarction of C allele was 1.815 times of the G allele(R=1.815,95 CI:1.305-2.149).Logistic regression analysis revealed systolic pressure, diastolic pressure FBS,LDL,Fg and-572G were the independent risk factors of cerebral infarction in Han population of Tangshan area.[Conclusion]IL-6 gene promoter-572C/G polymorphism was associated with cerebral infarction, and G allele may be a genetic risk factor of cerebral infarction.
