Abstract

The possibility of lycopene accumulation in some culture conditions was studied using photosynthetic bacteria(PSB),Rhodopseudomonas palustris. Some metal ions, such as Fe 3+ and Mg 2+, were added in culture medium, and the PSB was cultured under varied light intensity for several days. It was found that the yield of lycopene was increased when 0.01g L -1 of Fe 3+ added and lycopene yield would reach a maximum of 53.7 μg mg -1 if the PSB was cultured under light intensity of 2 000 lx for 6 days.
