Abstract

The lycopene accumulation produced in some culture conditions was studied. To effect the accumulation such as Fe~(3+)and Mg~(2+) were added in culture medium,and Rhodobacter sphaeroides was cultured under varied light intensity for several days.It was found that the production of lycopene was increased when Fe~(3+) was added to medium at the concentration of 0.01 g/L.Ancl lycopene would result in a maximum production rate of 57.3 μg/mg~(-1)dry weight if the PSB was cultured under the light intensity of 3000 Lx for 6 days.
