Abstract

Objective Use autogenous septal cartilage to extend the nasal part and shape nasal tip to the patient with foreshorted nasal deformation. The operation is technically simple and widely used by western countries. But for the difference of anatomic structure and beautiful outlook appreciation, how to make this operation method suit the oriental is a motive of many plastic surgeons. Method Since the year of 1998, this technique was performed in 326 patients, 298 women and 28 men, with the incision of nostril side or columella nasi to get the autogenous septal cartilage, and use it to extend the nasal length. And use some cartilage which has been carved to shape nasal tip. Use or not use the silicon post to fill the back of nose. Result The result is satisfied. The nose part can be extended 5mm in average; The time of operation is about one hour and fifty minutes. Follow-up 3 years in average, we don't find absorption, deformation, infection and rejection phenomenon. Conclusion It is an effective and safe method to use autogenous septal cartilage to extend the nasal part and shape nasal tip to the patient with foreshorted nose deformation.
