Abstract
Objective To make some suggestions for improving rural doctors' skill who work in the township hospitals based on the baseline investigation of their training situation.Methods Field survey was made on 486 doctors in 18 sampled township hospitals with a questionnaire.Results More than ten percent of the respondents never took part in any kind of training.More than sixty seven of them need training of new knowledge and new skills.More than forty percent of the doctors said they could not take training because of fund.Conclusion Rural doctors are eager to get training but they are facing shortage of budget.It is necessary to strengthen training work for the rural doctors through policy and financial supports.
