Expression of CD44v6 in Human Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Abstract

Objective: To investigated the expression of CD44v6 in human oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC) and the relationship between their expressions and the clinical datum.Methods: 49 cases of OSCC including their tumor margin and 7 metastatic lymph nodes were studied by immunohistochemical S-P method.Results: The expression of CD44v6 correlated with histological differentiation(P0.05).The trend of the expression was down-regulated with the poorly differentiated carcinoma.There was even no expression in some area.OSCC with metastatic lymph node displayed significant up regulation of CD44v6 than those without(P0.01).Conclusion: The expression of CD44v6 might be relevent to the differentiation of OSCC.Higher expression of CD44v6 might play a role in the metastasis of OSCC and might be used as a useful diagnostic tool to determine the metastatic potential of OSCC to lymph node.
