Abstract
Objective To investigate the P 21 expression and its relationship with histologic grade and prognosis in breast carcinomas. Methods P 21 expression at protein level was determined by LSAB immunohistochemistry technique in 152 cases of breast cancer. Results Positive immunohistaining of P 21 was determined in 61 breast cancer,in which 43 were low expression, and 18 over expression.P 21 expression level was correlated with tubule formation, nuclear atypia, nuclear mitosis and histologic grade in breast carcinomas tissue.Univariate analysis demonstrated worse disease free survival in patients with higher P 21 expression than in those with lower expression. Conclusion The different expression level of P 21 in breast carcinomas is probably related to the histologic grade and prognosis.
