Abstract

Objective:This study investigated the expression of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α) and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) of their correlation and significance in gastric cancer. Methods: The expression of HIF-1α and VEGF were detected by SABC immunohistochemical assay in 58 patients with gastric carcinoma and 20 patients with normal gastric tissue. The relationship between the expression of HIF-1α,VEGF and clinicopathologic feature of patients was analyzed. Results: The positive expression rate of HIF-1α(77.59%) and VEGF(68.97%) in gastric cancer were significantly higher than that in normal gastric tissue(0%,P0.01). The expression of HIF-1α and VEGF in gastric cancer were significantly associated with pathological pattern, invasive depth and lymph-node metastasis(P0.05) in which there was a positive correlation between expression of HIF-1α and VEGF. Conclusion: HIF-1α and VEGF play the very important role in the development in gastric cancer, which could be a important factor in occurrence, development, infiltration and transference.
