Abstract
By using of ERDAS and ARCGIS softwares, two TMs and one ETM+ of Xuzhou City in 1994,2000 and 2003,together with a 1∶50 000 topographic map of Xuzhou City, the built-up expansion of Xuzhou is studied. The remote sensing images are classified.Through the classified result, the area, the direction and speed of expansion of Xuzhou City have been studied.Result shows that the speed of expansion form 1994 to 2000 is faster than 2000 to 2003,and the direction of expansion is towards the southeast.
