Abstract
In recent years,tourism has developed rapidly in China.Gradually,how to translate tourism materials properly in order to attract more foreign tourists became an important issue.Functional translation theory advocates that translator should take the intended purpose and the function of the target language as the basic criteria so as to take appropriate translation strategies.This paper starts from the basic principles of functional translation theory and preliminarily explores the characteristics of tourism text translation and the translation strategies to be taken.
