Abstract
Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of two different surgical procedures for pterygium. Methods A total of 46 patients(51eyes)were randomly divided into two groups:group A(23cases)underwent excision of pterygium with limbal epithelial autograft and group B underwent excision of pterygium with transferation of pedicle conjunctival flap and application of mitomycin-C in operation. The recurrence rate, epithelial recovering of corneal wound and neovascularization of corneal limbus were observed respectively. Results All cases were followed up for 6~36 months.1 eye in group A was recurred(4.35%)as 2 eyes in group B pterygium recurrence observed(8.7%).Conclusion Both limbal epithelial autograft and transferation of pedicle conjunctival flap with application of mitomycin-C in operation are effective in treating of pterygium. But the former appears to be more safe, comfortable and less complications than the latter.
