Abstract

Objective:To observe and test the growth properties of Rhodopseudomonas palustris under the heavy metals, and the experimental data are obtained for exploring further the application of Rhodopseudomonas palustris in anti-pollution of the heavy metal. Methods:Rhodopseudomonas palustris is grown anaerobically in each medium containing different concentrations of heavy metal ions(Cd2+,Hg2+,Cu2+,Co2+ and Pb2+) and in a control medium, and the total number of bacterial colony is measured separately.Results:Micro-ion concentrations of Cd2+,Co2+,Pb2+ do not influence the growth of Rhodopseudomonas palustris until the concentration at 1×10-5mol·L-1.And it shows that the growth of Rhodopseudomonas palustris can be inhibited by the micro-ion concentrations of Hg2+ and Cu2+,and it will be remarkably influenced when it reaches the ion-concentration at 1×10-5mol·L-1 for Hg2+ and at 1×10-6mol·L-1 for Cu2+.Conclusion:Rhodopseudomonas palustris can grow under all of the five heavy metals stress, and the tolerance to the five heavy metals for Rhodopseudomonas palustris is in turn as follows:Co2+ Pb2+Cd2+Hg2+Cu2+.
