Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of transurethral vapor-resection of the prostate(TUVP) in high risk patients with large volume benign prostate hyperplasia(BPH).Methods Between October 2000 and August 2005,there were 62 patients with BPH,average age(74.5),coexist urological and systemic disease 2 kinds, mean prostate weight 50g were treated with TUVP.Patients were followed up with IPSS,QOL,PVR and urodynamic exminations. Results TUVP procedures were successful in all cases after meticulous pro-opertive preparation. The IPSS were decreased from 26.8(24~35) preoperatively to 6.8(6~14) postoperatively,MFR increased from(6.1 ml/s)(5~10ml/s) preoperatively to 18.5ml/s(15~26ml/s) postoperatively,PVR decreased from 376ml to 8.8ml(8~22ml) after fallow-up 3~36month.Conclusion TUVP is a simple, effective and safe method to treat high risk patients with large volume BPH.
