Comparison of dezocine with morphine for relief of pain for late cancer

Objective:to compare dezocine with morphine for pain relief for late cancer. Methods: 60 hospitalized subjects with moderate to severe pain as a result of advanced cancer were randomized into dezocine group (n=40) and morphine group (n=40). The dezocine group were treated with 10mg dezocine while morphine group with 10mg morphine every 6 hours. During 7-day treatment, pain intensity, pain relief and negative effects were recorded. Results: Both the two groups got marked pain relief; but dezocine had better effect than morphine ;total adverse reaction incidence rate in dezocine group was obviously lower than morphine group. Conclusion: Dezocine is as effect as morphine in pain relief and has lower rate of adverse reaction incidence. It is effective, safe and convenient.
