Use of ~(90)Sr/~(90)Y applicator in treatment of primary pterygium

Objective To observe the effects of pterygium excision,pterygium excision combined with bulbar conjunctival flap transplantation,pterygium excision combined with bulbar conjunctival flap transplantation and 90Sr/90Y applicator.Methods We treated 121 eyes with the three kinds of operation style including pterygium excision(group A),pterygium excision combined with bulbar conjunctival flap transplantation(group B),pterygium excision combined with bulbar conjunctival flap transplantation and 90Sr/90Y Applicator(group C).Results The recurrence rate was 14.63%,15.39% and 2.44% respectively for group A,B and C.Conclusion Pterygium excision combined with bulbar conjunctival flap transplantation and 90Sr/90Y Applicator can effectively decrease recurrence of primary pterygium,occurrence of dry eye syndrome and is a relatively good operation style.
