Analysis on epidemiological characteristics of public health emergency in Fangchenggang City during 2005-2012

Abstract

[Objective]To understand the epidemiological characteristics of public health emergencies in Fangchenggang City,provide scientific basis for making the prevention and control measures. [Methods]The public health emergencies which were reported by national public health emergency management information system in Fangchenggang city from 2005-2012 were analyzed by descriptive epidemiological method.[Results]27 public health emergencies were reported in Fangchenggang City from 2005-2012, including 2 serious events,7 general events and 18 unrated events; 22 cases of infectious diseases,3 cases of food poisoning,2 cases of other poisoning. The mortality rate of poisoning was high( 4. 17%). September was the peak incidence. Patients were mainly students,followed by the scattered children and kindergarten children. The school was the main place,17 events occurred in middle and primary schools,2 events occurred in childcare institutions and 8 cases occurred in other places. Respiratory infectious diseases were the main school infectious diseases,followed by intestinal infectious diseases. [Conclusion] Respiratory infectious diseases and poisoning are the major public health emergencies in Fangchenggang City,schools are the key place and students are the key population. The government,health and education departments at all levels should strengthen the leadership of prevention and control of school infectious diseases and the relevant prevention and control measures should be implemented to control the public health emergencies.
