Mental and psychological therapy for treatment of 41 patients with irritable bowel syndrome

Abstract

Objective To discuss the role of mental and psychological treatment in patients with irritable bowel syndrome(IBS).Methods Eighty-two IBS patients diagnosed by Rome Ⅱ standard were randomly divided to two groups,41 patients in each group.The routine treatment was administered in control group.The observed group was performed with oral administration of Fluoxetine(10mg per day)and combined with the mental and psychological treatment simultaneuosly for eight weeks.Results There was an obvious improvement in symptoms of digestive tract in two groups after treatment(P0.05).The recovery of vegetative nerve function in observe group was superior to control group(P0.05,P0.01).Conclusion The combination of antidepressant and psychological supporting treatment plays an obvious effect in the treatment of IBS patients.
