Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of Yiqi Jiedu Decoction(YJD) on free radical metablism in mice with Qi deficient constitutional status induced by exhaustive swimming. Methods Forty-eight mice were randomly divided into 4 groups,i.e.treating group(TG),positive control group(PCG),model group(MG) and healthy control group(HCG),12 mice each group. All the mice in TG,PCG and HCG were given the food controlled the amount of 150 g kg-1.d-1 with exhaustive swimming exercise to be in a Qi deficienct status, the mice in HCG were kept in a normal feeding.Simultaneously, the mice in TG and PCG were feeded with YJD,vitamin E and normal saline respectively,in HCG and MG with normal saline only.At the 16th day of the test, the swimming time was measured and the targets of MDA,SOD and GSH-PX in the serum, the nasopharyngeal mucosa and the liver sample were detected. Results Compared with HCG,the exhaustive swimming time in TG was significantly shortened(P0.01),with MG,the time in MG prolonged(P0.01),the difference between HCG and PCG was not obvious. In the serum, the nasopharyngeal mucosa and the liver sample, compared with HCG,the content of MDA increased obviously and the active level of SOD and GSH-Px decreased remarkably(P0.01);compared with MG,the level of MDA was decreased remarkably, and the active levels of SOD and GSH-Px were increased obviously(P0.05 or P0.01),but the difference between HCG and PCG was not obvious. Conclusions YJD is very effective to improve the free radical metablism in mice.
