Expression of Id1 and Id2 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and its significance

Purpose To study the expression and significance of Id1 and Id2 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC).Methods Expression of Id1 and Id2 in 122 cases of ESCC and 90 cases of normal esophageal tissues was detected by immunohistochemistri SP methods and image analysis.Results The expression of Id1 and Id2 in 122 cases of ESCC was higher than that of normal tissues(P0.01).A significant relationship between the expression of Id1 and Id2 and sex,age and lymph node metastasis was not found(P0.05).The difference of expression in well-differentiated and poorly-differentiated of Id1 was also not significant(P0.05).The expression of Id2 negatively correlates with tumor differentiation(P0.05) and positively correlates with depth of tumor invasion.Conclusions High expression of Id1 and Id2 may be an important molecular change of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.Id2 can serve as a potential marker of biological behavior in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
