Abstract

The feasibility of utilizing FAI injection system on a 50 cm3,twostroke motorcycle engine is studied experimentally.Injection directions,injection timing and fueling are studied specially at the small and full throttle opening conditions to clarify their effects on emissions,fuel economy and engine power.Experimental results show that,the brake specific fuel consumption(BSFC) and brake specific hydrocarbon emission(BSHC) can be decreased by 45% and 80% respectively at full throttle opening.BSFC and BSHC are close to those of four-stroke engine at the heavy load.At small throttle opening,BSFC and BSHC are decreased compared to the carbureted engine,but the values are still higher comparing to those of four-stroke engine.
