Abstract
Succinic acid,an important four-carbon dicarboxylic acid,is a key compound producing more than 30commercial important product and can be used as surfactants and ion chelating agents. In this paper,we transformed sodium succinate into succinic acid by bipolar membrane electrodialysis with different membranes. When the bipolar membrane BPM-2,succinic acid recovery was over 90%,energy consumption was less than 4kWh/kg,current efficiency was more than 80%,which were better than those of domestic bipolar membrane.Through these comparisons, the difference of performances between heterogeneous exchange membranes and homogeneous ion exchange membranes was slight.
