Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of E2F1 and P16 protein in papillary thyroid carcinoma, and to provide a theoretical basis for the development and prognosis of papillary thyroid carcinoma. Methods The expression of E2F1 and P16 protein was detected in 78 cases of papillary thyroid cancer and 51 case of normal tissues, and its relationships with clinicopathological features were analyzed. Results The positive rates of E2F1 and P16 protein expression were 78.2% and 39.7% in papillary thyroid cancer,5.9% and 58.8% in the normal tissues, respectively. The expression of E2F1 and P16 protein was significantly different between two groups(P0.05).The expression of E2F1 and P16 protein was not corre1ated with age, gender and lesion sites of patients(P0.05),but positively related with lymphatic metastasis and pathological staging(P0.05).The expression of E2F1 and P16 protein was negatively correlated in papillary thyroid cancer(r=-0.269,P0.05). Conclusion The expression of E2F1 and P16 is related to the progress of papillary thyroid cancer, and the positive expression of E2F1 and the loss of P16 are correlated with the prognosis of patients.Combined detection of E2F1 and P16 protein may be more helpful to evaluate the prognosis of papillary thyroid carcinoma patients.
